Beginners Guide to Diabetes

Did you know that diabetes is a major health care concern in the United States? If you would like to know more about this disease then join us on Wednesday, August 4 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. for “A Conversation with Judy Farnsworth, RD, CDE: Beginners Guide to Diabetes”.  Judy Farnsworth from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation will talk about diabetes as a major healthcare concern in America, four ways to prolong/avoid diabetes and the latest prevention guidelines.

Learn How to Attract Birds to Your Garden

Would you like to see more birds in your backyard? Then join us Thursday, July 29 at 7 p.m. for Attracting Birds to the Garden. Toby Goldberg from the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society and Arvind Kumar from the California Native Plant Society will discuss creating a bird-friendly backyard habitat, and introduce common backyard visitors and the plants most likely to attract them.

An Evening with Opera San José

Would you like to spend a summer evening listening to beautiful music? Next Wednesday, July 14, from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m., the Library will be hosting its annual Evening with Opera San José program. Opera San José artists will perform selections from the upcoming 2010-2011 season. Selections will be from The Barber of Seville, Tosca and La Bohème.
